Finally, everything was packed, moved, stored, paid, bought and fixed. We left Los Angeles at 7pm on October 28 towards Phoenix, Arizona and drove for about 4 hours. That's when the sleep defficiency from the past weeks of preparations kicked in and made us pull off the freeway for the night. It so happened that we exited at Eagle Mountain Road, the site of a tragic accident at a Moontribe gathering. So I would like to dedicate this first diary entry from the road to Pablo Vicente Mendoza, whose free and easy spirit was a great inspiration to me (I still do not own a pair of bellbottoms, though).
Yesterday we made some miles and did not stop until we arrived at Saguaro National Park just outside Tucson. For the first time we realized that we're on the road, thanks to the forest of giant cacti bathed in the soft light of the half moon and the desert wind whispering in the bushes. After taking care of the last US-errands we should hit the border sometime around sunset, today. |
